No video for this one, but I couldn’t help but be intrigued by this article about how a technical limitation of UV printing has been turned into an opportunity to produce a striking effect. FESPA.com discuss at length how UV inks and printers have been fine-tuned to take advantage of the properties of how the ink cures. This can be manipulated to create very high quality print finishes that clients will pay a premium for.
Over the years the ink formulations have been refined and techniques such as pinning have reduced this effect to the point that the smarter curing systems can be used to vary the smoothness level between high gloss and matt within the same image.
How’s that for raising your print profile?
