PRINT CLOSER TO BEING IN SCOPE OF EU DEFORESTATION LAW

Following our advocacy towards Members of the European Parliament, an amendment has been tabled in the EU Deforestation Regulation draft which includes printed paper products in the scope. This is good news for our sector. We commend the European Parliament’s Environment Committee for voting to extend the scope of the Deforestation Regulation to printed paper products, closing an important loophole. Following sustained advocacy from Intergraf, our members, and our value chain, we are thrilled to finally see this issue, and our position, being taken seriously.

The next step will be a European Parliament plenary vote in September, followed by negotiations between the European Commission and Council. We urge policymakers to ensure that printed products are included in the scope of the final Regulation.
